Wesquage Volunteers Needed!

TO ALL BONNET SHORES RESIDENTS

The Bonnet Shores Fire District is looking for adult volunteers to assist us with monitoring of Wesquage Pond. Monitoring of the pond is critical to protect the residents of Bonnet Shores so that we can be proactive in all of our efforts to keep our waterways clean.

In the past, we have worked with the URI Watershed Watch to collect water samples from the pond to monitor for water quality. In order to do so, we need to get volunteers who would agree to collect water samples every other week throughout the summer. If we are able to get more than 1 volunteer, we would create a schedule so that volunteers can alternate collection dates. In order to collect samples, the volunteers would need to collect water from the middle of the pond which requires access by boat. We do have a local resident who has graciously offered use of his canoe if necessary. Volunteers are not expected to have any special expertise or scientific experience. All training and equipment is supplied by Watershed Watch staff. Volunteers only need to supply their time and commitment to the monitoring program.

If you would be willing to volunteer to help us, please contact our District Manager, at:
