Causeway closing 2010. |
Due
to the recent excessive flooding, the Narragansett DPW has decided to close
the causeway for the winter in order to avoid any serious and long term damage
to the road. The underlayment is very flooded and too soft to support
traffic on the road. Hard freezing and thawing is another concern. Without
this action the road is susceptible to premature deterioration which the town
does not have funds to repair.
It was noted that not too long
ago the causeway used to be permanently closed from December 1st to March 1st.
The DPW is recommending a similar policy.
Status and changes to
status will be available on the Web site.
It was recommended that a
sign indicating the closure be posted at the triangle and that the barrier
allow for foot traffic access to the
causeway. |

September - June: Monday, Wednesday, Friday; 4:00 PM.
Year round -
Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Parking |
Please remember that, for safety
reasons, there is no street parking in Bonnet
Shores. We have seen an increase in parking violations along
the causeway. Violators are subject to ticketing. |

Shrubbery, Hedges and Bushes |
Please trim all roadside
shrubbery, hedges and bushes back at least 5 feet from the
road to allow clear visibility of the road ahead and a place
for walkers encountering moving motor vehicles. Also please
be mindful of overgrowth encroaching upon your neighbors
property. Thank you. |

If you are renting out your property,
please take the time to notify the District Manager of this
fact. This will help us address any problems that may arise
in the community. Thank You |
